MidAtlantic Farm Credit Hosts Five Interns

(Westminster, Md) – Five students are spending their summer internships with MidAtlantic Farm Credit. MidAtlantic Farm Credit is part of the national Farm Credit System, a cooperative lender with more than 460,000 borrowers and a portfolio of over $135 billion.

“Our interns have the opportunity to work and learn in a real work environment,” said Lynn Hempey, of MidAtlantic’s Human Resource department. Hempey oversees the intern program. Each intern will be provided with the opportunity to learn and use the skills they’ve learned in college by working with mentors during their employment, she said.

The interns work in areas of interest or study and are assigned special projects to complete. They also participate in an educational trip to Washington, DC, meeting with legislators and visits to the Farm Credit Council office which is the trade association that represents System interests before Congress and the federal government and the Farm Credit Administration office which is the independent regulator for the Farm Credit System.

This year’s interns include:

Zachary Evans, Salisbury University, Marketing Department, Salisbury, MD office
Alisha Rohrbaugh, Shippensburg University, Human Resource Department, Westminster, MD office
Clay Scovill, Franklin & Marshall College, Finance Department, Lancaster, PA office
Scott Umble, Penn State University, Lending/Sales Department, Quarryville, PA office
Haley Wyatt, University of Delaware, Lending/Sales Department , Dover, DE office

MidAtlantic Farm Credit is pleased to offer internship positions to these college students. “We feel the students bring diversity to our offices, offering a fresh perspective and varying backgrounds for our staff and our customers. We often learn from them as much as they learn from us,” Hempey said.

MidAtlantic Farm Credit has offices located throughout southeastern Pennsylvania, central Maryland, the state of Delaware, northern Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and the panhandle of West Virginia. For more information visit mafc.com.
